Bringing a baby into the world is one of the most overwhelming, life-changing and heart-opening moments in life.
I remember those first hours, holding her tiny body, skin so delicate, so vulnerable. I wanted to wrap her in nothing but love and the safest, purest care. And that's where my journey with Royal Heir’s First Touch Butter truly began—my way of protecting her skin from day one, just like nature does with vernix.
As moms, we instinctively want the best for our babies. That first touch, that first connection, is so profound, and it's where everything begins. I knew I needed something that was as safe and nurturing as possible. Something that wouldn’t irritate her skin, but would instead support and protect it, just like that beautiful waxy vernix she was born with.
The first 6 months of baby's life the skin is more of a mucous membrane, incredibly absorbent and vulnerable. I have formulated the Royal Heir First Touch Butter as my tool for recreating that gentle protection nature offers.
Why Newborn Skin Needs Special Care
When my daughter was born, I learned that her skin was still developing, adjusting from the wet warmth of my womb to the outside world. After the vernix was wiped away, I could see her skin start to peel and dry out. Raw sensitive skin in all her creases. Her skin was so very thin.
That’s completely normal for a fair baby, but I still felt the need to do something to keep her comfortable, soothed, and moisturized. I needed something that would help her skin transition gently—and that’s where the idea for First Touch Butter really hit home for me. I stayed up nursing her at night by researching and studying on my phone. Brushing up on the knowledge from my nursing school days. I actually got a whole new degree in clinical aromatherapy and a certification through this life experience!
It’s not just about moisturizing—we all need to expect a lot more from our skincare. Our skin is the biggest organ in our bodies and it's incredibly absorbent. Skin doesn't just separate us from the environment, skin is a neuro-immuno-endocrine interface. Our skin connects us to the world around us, it's through touch that pre-verbal babies understand safety and connection, which is what they need.
I formulated the Royal Heir First Touch butter to be the next safest thing to vernix and to support the baby's body as much as skincare possibly can. This butter is like a little shield for sensitive skin. With ingredients that are comparable to the natural fatty acids found in vernix, it felt like the closest thing to nature’s protection. First Touch Butter contains only the essentials: organic cold pressed extra virgin plant based oil and crude organic butters that are perfect for baby skin. These ingredients work together to nourish, protect, and soothe, without overwhelming baby's fragile skin barrier.
Safety Is Everything
Looking back, I am so grateful for the dive into natural skincare when I saw how fragile and delicate my baby girl's skin was, because the only option the doctor offered was steroids when eczema started to appear on her delicate skin in patches. Steroids become addictive over time and at the same time thin the skin leaving it even more fragile.
I formulated this butter for my baby. I'm not a chemist working for a company that gave me a budget and I had to pack the product with fillers to fit into their profit margin limit. I only used ingredients that I wanted on my own baby's skin, so pure you could eat them and very effective too! I have kept the formula the same for your baby. No artificial fragrances. No preservatives. Just pure, organic ingredients that a mom could trust.
-
Cocoa Butter: This was a game-changer. Cocoa butter is naturally rich in saturated fats, just like a baby’s skin, which makes it the perfect ingredient to lock in moisture without leaving her feeling greasy. This is why it's the main ingredient!
-
Shea and Mango Butters: These are more than just moisturizers—they soothe irritation and help prevent dry patches that newborns often get. Deep absorbing and nutrient rich.
-
Hemp and Sunflower Oils: These gentle oils are full of essential fatty acids that nourish and protect without clogging pores or causing any irritation.
-
Jojoba Oil is really a wax and will stay on the surface on the skin as silky protection. Helps skin balance it's own sebum production. Reducing the appearance of cradle cap.
Everything in First Touch Butter is food-grade quality. Yes, food-grade, because let’s face it—little hands will always find their way into their mouths! So I know it’s safe, even if baby happens to taste a little of it.
The Health Benefits we See
We all need to expect a lot more out of our skincare considering this is the biggest organ of our bodies. I’ll never forget the first time I used it on her peeling skin. It was so dry after just a few days, and the butter helped keep her skin soft, smooth, and comfortable. And as I continued to use it, I realized how versatile it was. First Touch Butter became a part of our daily routine—it wasn’t just for moisturizing. It became her diaper cream, her cradle cap treatment, and the answer to those stubborn dry patches, every booboo and every itch was covered in her favourite "chocolate butter". Our nightly routine was not complete without a nice massage and her all buttered up slipping into relaxing and restful sleep. And nice rest for me too.
Here’s what I’ve noticed:
-
Prevents Dryness: Her skin stayed soft and supple, even through those early days of shedding and peeling.
-
Nourishing support: Skin of babies in particular is incredibly absorbent. So much so, that natural nourishing oils applied to the skin become nutritionally available in the body supporting the brain and nervous system development.
-
A Natural Barrier:It formed a protective barrier without being heavy or greasy. This meant no irritation from diapers or clothing rubbing against her delicate skin. You can cloth diaper like I did my girl and she never had a diaper rash or a yeast infection or a UTI.
-
Soothes Eczema and Cradle Cap: Her scalp was starting to develop cradle cap, and the butter softened it, making it so much easier to remove without irritating her skin. Leaving her hair shiny with minimal cradle cap returning.
-
Supports the Immune System and Reduces Infection Risk: Newborns, especially premature babies, are vulnerable to infections. Creating a strong, healthy skin barrier is essential for keeping out bacteria and other irritants. The nourishing butters and oils in First Touch Butter help fortify the skin’s natural defences.
-
Safe for delicate new endocrine system: All internal organs start to fire up one after another when baby is born, starting with the heart and the lungs. Hormonal system included. Skincare is a big culprit when it comes to endocrine disrupting agents. First Touch Butter has only organic plant based ingredients which are clean of any potential trouble makers. And our packaging is safe too.
-
Emotional Connection and Nervous System Support: One of the most beautiful things about using First Touch Butter is the bond it creates through touch. Gently massaging baby with the butter not only helps soothe her skin but also helps her feel calm and secure. Physical touch stimulates the release of oxytocin, known as the "love hormone," which strengthens our connection and helps regulate both of our nervous systems.
The Memories we create
There’s something deeply nostalgic about the feel of this butter on her skin. The light smell of pure cocoa butter—it’s so comforting, so familiar. It takes me back to those first weeks, where every touch felt like I was grounding her into the world, surrounding her with love. It’s not just skincare; it’s a way for me to show her how much I care, even when she’s too little to understand. That feeling, that scent, has now become part of the rhythm of our day.
Even now, I catch myself inhaling that rich chocolate scent from the butter and remembering the first days we spent together. It’s a product that not only protects but also preserves those early moments in a way that nothing else can. And it has an instant grounding effect on my girl, even 10 years later.
Why You can Trust First Touch Butter
I’ve been through my fair share of baby products—some work, some don’t, but very few were designed with as much care as this. First Touch Butter was created for moms like us, who want the very best for their babies but don’t want to compromise on safety, effectiveness, or functionality.
Here’s why it stands out:
-
Pure Ingredients: Only organic, food-grade ingredients, so you never have to worry about harmful chemicals, or your baby touching it or swallowing.
-
Multi-Use: It’s become our all-in-one balm—from diaper rashes to dry patches and everything in between.
-
Feels Good: It absorbs quickly and leaves skin soft, but not greasy, so you can use it for baby massages without making your baby slippery.
-
Beautiful packaging: Designed for modern moms. It's a great distraction for a baby when diaper changing, that makes them feel like they are participating.
Special Care for Premature Babies
I have been asked many times to donate to organizations that give care packages to preemie moms in hospitals. It gives me great joy to support a struggling mom and have a way to support the safe development of her baby. Using natural plant based and nutrient dense oils on baby skin leads to them absorbing through skin and becoming nutritionally available in the baby's body. The body needs fatty acids, vitamins and proteins to build new tissue and the body is growing rapidly. Baby's brain is made up of 60% fat. And triples in size during the first year of life.
Interesting fact is that mineral oil does not serve in the same way. And what is also interesting is that mineral oil does not offer any thermoregulating support to baby's body either. As a result of this high absorbency of premature baby's skin, we can make a difference with healthy and deeply nourishing skincare.
"Just imagine being able to bring your little darling home sooner from the hospital!"
But there is more great support Royal Heir First Touch Baby Butter can offer. Nutritionally supportive, helping thermoregulation, supporting immune system and the nervous system, protecting the endocrine system.
Skin of babies is more like a mucous membrane for the first six months of their lives. For prematurely born babies this is an even more crucial area that needs support, especially since they often have monitors and IV's attached to their bodies with adhesive tape.
Babies who are supported with plant based and clean skincare that brings deep nourishment have a 50% higher rates of survival. Their immune system is boosted not just through the nourishment and protective layer on their skin to reduce infection, but the touch and the feel of the butter on the skin is deeply soothing for baby's nervous system.
Pre-verbal babies recognize firm and gentle touch as safety and their tiny body can relax while bonding you together. The thoughtfully balanced oils in the First Touch Baby Butter absorb easily into the baby's skin and support the nervous system by offering the types of fatty molecules the body needs to start wrapping the nervous system with a layer of fat called "Myelin Sheet". This process starts at birth and ends around the age of 25.
Massage with First Touch Baby butter makes the nervous system of your baby more resilient and stable through the soothing effects of your touch and the nutritionally abundant skincare for a little Royal Heir.
When I used to hold my baby and massage her with First Touch Butter, it was more than just skincare. It was my way and still is of making sure she feels protected, loved, and cared for—down to the very last detail. It’s the next best thing to nature’s vernix, and it’s given me peace of mind knowing that I’m giving her the best start possible.
So if you’re looking for something safe, nourishing, and beautiful for your newborn’s skin, I can’t recommend First Touch Butter enough. It’s been a game-changer for me, and I hope it brings the same comfort and connection to you and your little one.
