Oat Oil

Oat Oil

This new addition to our blue formula took a while of testing. There is a large volume of cosmetics made to soothe eczema afflicted skin utilizing colloidal oat as an active ingredient. And possibly it works well for some and may work well in a bath, but all the testing we have done with colloidal oat as an ingredient only caused a reaction for the majority of our test subjects. Not the healing kind of a reaction, sadly. Believing in the power of natural remedies and ingredients, I didn't give up on oats entirely and kept looking fr other options. And to my pleasant surprise, I found a fairly new ingredient in the world of cosmetics, oil derived from oat kernels. And I was very curious to try it.

The main chemical constituents of Evening Primrose Oil are: Palmitic Acid, Oleic Acid (Omega-9), Linoleic Acids (Omega-6), γ-Linolenic Acid (Omega-6),  and Stearic Acid. Rich in vitamins A, E and B as well as  calcium, zinc, iron and manganese.

These ingredients lend the oat oil all of these powers:

•Facilitate wound healing

•Contains 1-2% of moisture regulating ceramides

•Proven to be non-comedogenic and reduce papules, blackheads and lesions

•Exhibit anti-inflammatory properties

•Help slow the look of aging by sustaining skin elasticity and softness

•Nourish the skin with essential fatty acids

•Help slow the look of aging by sustaining skin elasticity and softness

•Maintain the softness, suppleness, and radiance of skin and hair

•Exhibit anti-oxidant properties

•Have cleansing properties that eliminate dirt, sweat, and excess sebum from hair and skin

•Soften skin

We like it for it's antibacterial properties as well as wonderful moisturizing properties. These superpowers are especially great for people with conditions like eczema, where skin is very dry and the moisture barrier has been interrupted. Oat oil will help to fix the moisture barrier and reduce itching and inflammation, promoting faster healing of the skin.

Oat oil

Oats have incredible antioxidant benefits, which make them pretty amazing as an anti-aging moisturizer. For skin diseases such as dermatitis, the anti-fungal properties in oat oil will not only help to soothe and cleanse the skin, but it will also help reduce inflammation and seriously calm itching.

Packed with Ceramides, Oat Oil locks in moisture by forming a protective, waterproof barrier to TEWL (Trans Epidermal Water Loss) and acts as an occlusive and a humectant. Ceramides are lipids (fat molecules) that are found naturally in high concentrations in the uppermost layers of skin that help the skin retain moisture and also help protect against environmental aggressors like irritants, and pollution.

Oat Oil is reputed to enhance elasticity and firmness by boosting collagen production, and also facilitate the healing of irritation, inflammation, redness, and chapping, especially in association with sunburned skin and conditions such as dermatitis, eczema, and psoriasis. Its super emollient and deeply hydrating properties are known to prevent skin from losing moisture, thereby softening, nourishing, and protecting the skin, which ultimately revitalizes and rejuvenates the complexion.

Rich in biologically active components such as tocopherols, phytosterols, phospholipids, as well as numerous antioxidants, Oat Oil is renowned for its exceptional age-defying properties, helping to maintain the youthful look of the skin. It is easily absorbed into the skin leaving a non-greasy feel whilst hydrating, soothing and moisturising the skin. The high concentration of omega-9 and 6 fatty acids in Oatmeal Oil moisturizes and nourishes the hair strands and protects it from damage caused by external environmental aggressors (cold, pollution, hard water, sun).

Oats act as a natural moisturizer on their own, by removing dead skin cell, acting as a protective barrier and also penetrating deeply, no greasy residue and all the great benefits sinking straight into the skin.

We love it in our blue formul adesigned specifically for eczema suffering super dry skin.
