A mother's regulated presence is a biological signal of safety.

Your skin is changing, and so is your baby's.

A newborn's skin is still learning how to live in the world outside the womb. Yours is moving through the hormonal shifts of pregnancy, birth, feeding and postpartum. This season calls for something richer than thin, heavily fragranced formulas or a bathroom full of products doing one small job each.

Royal Heir was made differently.

The butters, oils and soaks are concentrated because this is a time when skin benefits from rich, substantial care. They are also deliberately versatile, so one beautiful formula can often serve both you and your baby as the months unfold. Fewer products means fewer ingredients, fewer competing scents and a simpler sensory world around both of you.

A baby is born into your scent before they know almost anything else about the world. Your skin, your milk, your clothing and the warmth of your body all become part of what is familiar. Newborn care remains unscented, and aromatics are introduced slowly and sparingly as baby grows, with age, pregnancy, breastfeeding and sensory sensitivity in mind. Scent stays close to the skin, where it can quietly become part of the ritual.

Henrieta's lens comes from her years as a nurse, clinical aromatherapist and Somatic Experiencing practitioner. She thinks about the skin, but she also thinks about what the body is taking in through scent, touch, texture and repetition: highly sensitive skin, developing babies, mothers whose senses may feel more open than they once did, and how care can feel containing without becoming heavy or complicated.

That is why texture matters so much here. A butter that stays with the skin. An oil that gives your hands enough glide to linger. Warm botanical water that surrounds the body for a few quiet minutes. The richness is practical, but it is sensory too. The formulas are made to leave the skin feeling held rather than skimmed over, because pleasure and containment are part of what make a ritual worth returning to. The pleasure is part of the care, and part of what makes you want to return to it.

Royal Heir is a small apothecary by design. Each formula is meant to earn its place, serve more than one moment, and become part of the way you care for yourself and your baby through the early years.

Process

Every batch is made fresh.

Royal Heir is made in small batches, fresh every month. Buying in small quantities means each ingredient goes into a formula soon after it arrives, before long storage can dull it. The butters and serums are waterless, which frees them from the broad-spectrum preservative system a water-based lotion or cream relies on.

Heat can damage the delicate nutrients in botanical oils, so every oil is cold-pressed and extra virgin, and it goes into the blend only after the butters have cooled. Each butter is tempered on its own: heated to a set temperature, held there, then cooled at the pace its structure needs. Cocoa butter is cooled quickly to set its density. Shea butter is cooled slowly to keep it soft.

Some oils are macerated in-house, in glass, for four to six weeks, which gives the plant time to infuse fully into the oil before it goes into a formula. Some preparations, like organic calendula, arrive ready-made to the same standard.

The oils go in last. Then the whole blend is lightly whipped, so it is easy to scoop, glides across your skin and melts on contact.

Waterless

A Royal Heir butter is all butter.

A lotion

A lotion is mostly water blended with oils and held together with emulsifiers. Because water is present, it also needs an appropriate preservative system to remain safe over time.

A Royal Heir butter

Royal Heir butters are plant butters and cold-pressed oils, rich in cocoa butter and lightly whipped, with a silky finish left on the skin. The whipping lightens the butter so it glides easily, and your skin drinks it in, keeping the nourishment without the weight.

Newborn skin loses moisture more readily than adult skin. Plant butters and oils stay at the surface longer, helping reduce moisture loss while leaving the skin softly protected.

It was made to absorb quickly, because a slippery baby at bath time is a real worry. The butter sinks in fast enough that your hands stay sure, and what remains feels soothing. Jojoba oil is remarkably close to the oil your skin makes on its own, so your skin takes it in easily.

Vitamin E protects the oils from going rancid and nourishes your skin at the same time: one ingredient, two jobs. The shelf life is two years, but plant materials are richest closest to the day they were made, and small monthly batches mean each formula reaches you at its best. A small amount goes a long way.

What you apply is what your skin receives.

Every object was designed for this season, when light, sound and touch all reach you a little louder. The colors are soft and muted on purpose, easy on eyes that are already taking in a lot, and the beauty is there to catch your eye and bring your attention back to yourself for a moment.

The tin

Every butter comes in an embossed metal tin, crowned in gold. Metal tins are an old way to store a remedy worth keeping, and European apothecaries kept their remedies in them for generations. Tinplate is endlessly recyclable and genuinely valued, so an empty tin can be recycled, or kept. Many mothers keep theirs as a small keepsake box for a first lock of hair or a hospital bracelet. The serum arrives in a moon-shaped bottle with a gold dropper and our gold logo, inside its own velvet pouch. Running your fingers over velvet, before you have even opened the bottle, is already part of the ritual: a small moment of beauty that pulls your attention back into your own body before the serum ever touches your skin.

The soak box and its sachets

Each soak arrives sealed in individual sachets, one use in each. The moment an aromatic blend is exposed to air, it begins to lose its potency. Sealing each dose separately keeps it protected until the moment you actually use it, so what reaches you is as strong as the day it was made. Measuring is one more decision, and each sachet is already portioned for you.

Our soaks arrive in a linen box designed to be kept. Refill sachets are sold on their own, so the box stays in your bathroom as part of your ritual, and each time you only buy the formula.

Everything in a Royal Heir formula is there for a reason, and the library below explains each one: what it is, why it is here and what it does for your skin.

Newborn skin is thinner than yours and still maturing through the first year, and little hands end up in little mouths. Where appropriate, ingredients are selected to food-grade quality standards, with cold-pressed oils, unrefined butters and organically grown materials used whenever available. We prefer unrefined materials where they suit the formula because they retain more of the plant's natural character, including color, aroma and naturally occurring compounds.
